Editor’s welcome and announcement of new features

Hello Humanosphere community. This is Jake Ellison, online managing editor for KPLU.org and Humanosphere.

First, thanks to all of you who came to our first “Change-up” meetup last Thursday night. We had fun, and it was great to meet some of you out there working in global health and hear about your experiences and ideas.

We look forward to seeing you at our next Change-up, which is the last Thursday of each month. Check back here or on our Facebook page the week of the event for more details.

Two new features

We will be rolling out new content on Humanosphere in the next couple of weeks.

First up will be interviews with Changemakers.

These mini-profiles will be of students who have a driving interest in global health and development. We’d love to hear about Millennials who have shown commitment through their volunteer work while in school, have focused their education on or who have found jobs in the global health and development field.

If you know of someone who fits this profile, please send me their names and contact information: jellison@kplu.org.

Second, we’ll be publishing Dispatches from the Field.

These stories will be first-person accounts of events, experiences, problems, successes or even mini-profiles of the people encountered in the field who have made a particular impression on the writer. These stories should ideally include photos and possibly video.

Read our submission guidelines.

Again, send your stories and ideas to jellison@kplu.org.

Cheers and I hope to see you at the next Change-up.
