Our Tom Paulson emerged from the woods of Idaho to do a call-in interview with the Seattle NPR station KUOW to talk about changes in foreign aid.

The Gates Foundation is one of the major players that is pushing for more accountability and evidence that programs work. Tom says measurements are a trend, but they have not been fully accepted.

“There are some people who are making the case that all of these problems require a business approach. Others say that is a red herring and a distraction from the fundamental drivers of poverty,” says Tom when pushed further on why there may be pushback to measuring impacts.
