Mercy Corps video: Famine in East Africa worsening

The famine in the Horn of Africa, which has already killed tens of thousands of people, mostly children, seems to be slipping off the news media radar. It certainly isn’t because the situation has been improved.

Here is a Mercy Corps report (I’ve noted before how some NGOs are “standing in” for absent media) from one of the camps for the displaced in Mogadishu, Somalia.

In response to the outbreak of water-borne diseases such as cholera, the organization is trucking water in and also plans to start hygiene and sanitation programs.
