Video humor: American media ignoring rest of the the world

“What are you talking about India for?” asked John McLaughlin, the host of the TV news program the McLaughlin Group. “It’s not even in our hemisphere.”

As is getting to be almost routine, the comedy team at The Daily Show and now John Oliver in his new show are trying to expand America’s horizons by making fun of how the mainstream media doesn’t. From the comedic perspective, big media is ripe for abuse because of such head-in-the-sand parochialism as this (the lack of interest in India’s elections).

It’s a tough job to spoof something that is already in reality almost a parody. But Oliver does his level best:
