Seattle Times on the vaccine decade ahead

Earlier this month, I briefly noted the creation of a new committee asked to push forward Bill Gates’ funded vision that the next ten years will be the “Decade of Vaccines” — a call to action to greatly expand one of the most powerful tools for achieving health.

The Seattle Times’ Kristi Heim goes into greater detail, pointing out evidence of progress such as PATH’s recent launch of a new meningitis vaccine and also some of the challenges ahead. One of those is lack of funding, such as for the Gates-supported Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.

Kristi does a great job of putting it all in perspective.
