This “sexy” Ebola suit costume is bullshit

Sorry for the curse, but it is warranted. Making light of a virus that has killed nearly 5,000 people in West Africa and led to the detention of a nurse in New Jersey is not sexy. It was bound to happen. Ebola got the sexy Halloween treatment and it is actually worse than I could have predicted. Here is the accompanying text describing the costume.

As the deadly Ebola virus trickles its way through the United States, fighting its disease is no reason to compromise style. The short dress and chic gas mask will be the talk of Milan, London, Paris, and New York as the world’s fashionistas seek global solutions to hazmat couture. Ending plague isn’t the endeavor of a single woman, so be sure to check out our men’s Ebola Containment Costume for a great couple’s costume idea.

The only hope is that people are sensible enough not to buy the costume or make a similar version. With people fearful of the virus, sensibility needs to win out.
